brakes and a/c 200 1987

I made a mistake...i took my wagon to walmart tire and lube for an oil change..(honestly im a girl, and i wanted something to do while i had my oil changed) so i decided to get two tires put on the front while i was there, they were badly needed. I came back an hour later, paid, drove home. Noticed a slight rubbing sound on right front-i thought must just be the new tire rubbing as i went around a bend..next day i drove down the street and went to brake..grind and shudder. Went to walmart tire closer to my home, they were rolling their eyes at me of course, then said my brakes were locking up. I said they were absolutly fine the day before. not a squeak, nothing. They said, oh, just a coincidence. and directed me to the nearest brake place. I have trouble believing my brakes all the sudden are that bad after one day, no warning, and with work being done in that area. What does anyone think that might have more knowledge of tires and brakes. Could they have fiddled with something to make it grind and squeal like that? Of course i feel like i have no proof that it was them.

also on an unrelated note, i am desperate to get my air working. I assume i will have to get it converted to r-134 as im pretty sure its original. What does that entail? what can i expect for cost? The compresser currently works and blows, just not cold.

thanks..
