Am still working on resurrecting a '67 wagon project car. Right now I am getting it to roll and stop reliably. Got the front taken care of, and have gotten some advice about the rear, but find myself in need of some more help...regarding the rear wheel bearings.
Got the drums off and the brakes disassembled and am now down to the axels/bearings. On the first side, the axel came out easily, but it appears the bearing is pressed on the axel and if so, it seems like a good idea to have a shop press it off and press the new one on.
On the otherside, the race is in there TIGHT and it keeps the axel from being able to be hand-pulled. Any advice on how to get this out so I can get the shaft out?
Or, is this too much trouble and I should just clean and repack as best as I can I have all the bearings/races/seals and I'd like to do this right while I'm here so I can not worry about it as I move on to other jobs. But, I'm not necessarily looking for a fight I don't need either...
Any help/advice or a link to a write-up or post on this already would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Richard
