My 85 240 with over 250k miles just quit. The cranking sounded "dry", so I started the standard fuel delivery diagnosis. This is what is happening:
When I jump fuse terminal 4 and 6, I can hear the pumps and fuel is being delivered (I opened the line just before the fuel rail and checked), but no start.
When I instead jump the fuel relay, I can not hear the pumps, and of course, no start.
What is electrically different about jumping fuse 4 and 6 vs. jumping the relay? If I knew this, maybe I could figure out what's wrong.
