Dimmer Ground 900

I traced the problem with my fuel gauge/dash lights to what appears to be a grounding issue. There is a terminal marked "E" on the back of the cluster, that I am assuming is a ground. Now it looks like the dimmer switch is causing a change in the fuel gauge reading and I have a bulb light warning on with the lights turned on. Where does the dimmer ground to the chassis? Has anyone eliminated the dimmer for this issue ?
