converted A/C will not take coolant and it's hot in New Mexico! 200

I just had my old A/C converted and serviced. The system passed the pressure test, the mechanic added oil, but had trouble adding the coolant. Based on his pressure readings, he suspected either a clogged dryer/accumulator or a clogged expansion valve.

I hope it's the dryer/accumulator. It's cheaper, easier to get to, and should be changed anyway.

The A/C has not worked for awhile due to a broken hose. This was of course fixed.

Any ideas?

Thanks
