Injector Seals for Regina System 900

My son's brick runs poorly at idle. I took a shot around the injectors with some carburetor cleaner and when I hit the number two cylinder the idle leveled out immediately. I have o-rings that came with the head gasket kit I did last year and the car has 354k miles. I hear the o-rings are easy and the FAQ has instructions. I have two questions:

1. My brother-in-law says not to use WD40 because it's silicon-based and ruins O2 sensors. I'm not going to take chances. I plan to use Vaseline to reseal the sensors and install the o-rings, but what I can use to clean up the area before I disassemble?

2. Do the Rex and Bosch systems use the same injector and same o-rings? I don't want to yank this thing apart and find out I have the wrong o-rings.
