Hey guys,
Well i got a 88 740 tic that i been trying to fix for about 2 months now.And i have replaced 99% of all the vac/boost hose's with hose clamps and high pressure line.My car will make decent power in vac but once it gets into boost it simply will not accelrate at all unless if i mash the gas and it will pick up slowly.
This engine has 193k on it and im the 3rd owner as well.So i did a basic tune up when i bought the car and when i got it orignally it wouldn't even get into boost AT ALL without cutting out.So a few headaches later and now the only issue i got is getting into boost.The cat is missing off this car so the lag is a bit better and its a t3 turbo as well.
The turbo has a little shaft play in and out.But no up/down play or side to side play.Also the turbo doesn't smoke or sound like a fire truck.And now theres a slight hissing sound coming from the intake side today and i couldn't find the leak but im gonna go back out and see if i can find it.
Also one other thing,The temp gauge has a mind of its own but it usally comes on byitself on start up.But sometimes if it doesn't then i put on the heater for a second and it comes on.Also with the heater on the car idles differently around 1k-1,1k.So i wonder if i might have a leak somewhere that might be interfearing with the turbo in someway.This is my 1st turbo car so im still fairly new to this game but i been fixing this car for awhile.And its been paying off for me.Also ill clean the ground wires that run to the intake manifold along with the chassis ground wires to make sure there getting a good ground.And i have also swapped the AMM to a unit i got from a junkyard the one that came on the car didn't have any problems as both of these preform the same.
Im just puzzled.
Any help or idea's on where to look would be greatful.
