Smoke out of the oil dipstick? 700 1987

Hi folks,

I noticed when I checked the oil and tranny fluid after driving to work, that my oil dipstick tube had some peculiar smoke coming out of it. It was humid out, so the heat of the engine may have been making the air do funny things, but I'm pretty sure that it was smoke.

I'm at work, so can't pore through the archives. I took a look at my flame trap, and it wasn't even oily on the outside; my breather box is 20 years old, but I have a new one in the trunk. No obvious oil leakage, but the oil, when I checked it, was below the halfway mark on the dipstick (it HAS been about 2000 miles since my last oil change, with no oil added since).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ari
