Two 740's.
One 90, 267,000 mi, has a fluctuating needle and odo is way off.
Other 91 165,000 mi, speedo and odo are both dead.
One started a few weeks ago, the other a few days ago. !!!!
Both cars have all the other guages working, apparently fine.
I've read the faq, and called several Volvo shops. Most were not helpful and would look at the cars for $85-125 each for diagnosis only.
But one shop said in his exp. the swinging needle is a sign of a bad speedo head, and the dead speedo is usually a sender/wire issue.
This is exactly the opposite of my reading of the faq.
Any thoughts/experience out there?
The two dash panels are not the same, but I do have a spare for the 90 which I hope to put in shortly to try it out.
