Hi,
I am in the midst of installing a rebuilt turbo on our 88 - 760 Ti wagon that has just turned 500,000 kms. The car was still running fine, but I was noticing quite a bit of play in the bearings.
When I took the exhaust manifold off I noticed a significant crack in the wastegate housing. I also have an 89 740 wagon which I use for parts. When I checked the wastegate housing it also has a small crack in it.
So the question is how much of a concern is this? Should I try to find another used manifold without a cracked wastegate housing? If this is a common problem to turbos what are the chances that I will find one or should I just install the one with the smaller crack?
Thanks,
Richard
