One, I wanted to say hello, as I am a new member here. My wife was wanting to get another car, so she managed to find a 1993 940 wagon with some transmission issues. All that I know at this point is that it is claimed that it started slipping, and then would not move. It was taken to a transmission shop, and then decided, that the $1700 quoted was a bit much. It has about 170K miles on it.

From what I have read here and a few other places, I am going to first do a filter replacement and a complete fluid change. If there is an outboard filter I will look to replace that as well. Is there any other things that I might look for? If this works out ok, I will most likely look to do the valve body check balls next.

Then on to the engine... :)
