cleaning AMM? 200 1989

What can I use to clean an AMM meter (016)? I have a few old ones that weren't working properly, so I'm hoping to clean and salvage at least one of them. I really don't understand how my cars kill so many AMMs--I already removed the thermostat and blocked off the preheat hose.

The parts store I stopped at didn't have the Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner, which I assume would be best. I have some electronic cleaner, can I use that to clean it, or should I get the proper MAF cleaner? And how does the cleaning process work--just spray it all over? Or take off the screens and use a q-tip on everything? Or don't touch the wire?

Thanks in advance for any advice you have for me!!
