Follow up: Intermittent ignition failure 200 (08/04/08) 200

As mentioned in post (08/04/08) the PO had the ignition switch replaced by a reputable indy Volvo repair shop. Seems they used an "aftermarket" switch. Reputable ? At any rate. The # 30 (hot- Red wire) male peg seperated from whatever the pegs are attached to. As a result, that wire and the adjacant double wires (red/black #15 next to hot #30) were melted together. Thats why the female section was burnt & brittle. I've a 90 prts 245, so I swapped switches. WRONG. Different innards. Al male/ female # are identacle, but the key position does not jive. Had a no fule pump, no spark....no start. Arrrgh !!!! After way to much time trouble shooting, still nothing, and all checks out (except spark, fuel pump). Now eyeing under hood ignition moduale. The aftermarket (switch) had no parts #. Picked up correct switch (male part only) from another Volvojunkie friend of mine. Popped it in....Brick is 100%. Nice to have a good running Brick once again.

Moral: Beware of aftermarket parts without part numbers, or even with.

Again thanks to all who had input.

Enjoy.
