So I'm walking my dog tonight and discover to my horror that the right rear (cargo) window on my prized 1990 240 wagon is completely shattered.
It's the original 18 year-old glass. It's uniformly, evenly shattered, no sign of vandalism, and it's parked in a safe, presumably/virtually crime-free area. No "epicenter" of cracking, which one would expect from a blow from a rock, or baseball bat, or whatever. The safety glass nuggets are all still tightly in place; no glass has fallen into or out of the car.
Is it possible internal stress built up over 18 years is responsible?
Could the fact that I had this and the other windows of this car tinted (for the first time) 3 or 4 weeks ago be a factor somehow???
