84 245 turbo runs hot when pushed or with A/C running after (timing belt????) 200 1984

Howdy Ladies and Gents. I need your help. I’ve got an 84 245 turbo w/intercooler 270,000 miles. When I drive up a steep hill, push it hard or turn on the A/C (sitting still or driving) my car will run up to 3/4 on the temp gauge. If I keep the A/C on, the gauge will keep climbing. I’m sure it would overheat if I let it.

A little history. The day I purchased the car the timing belt broke on the way home. NICE! The temp. was running where it should (1/2) as I drove through the hills for an hour before it broke. Just as I slowed down to exit the frwy. at my exit the belt broke. I had it flat-bedded and let the car sit at the house about 2 weeks.
I did the timing belt/ tensioner per the instructions on the board (Thanks).
I’ve also replaced the water pump (GMB), thermostat (Volvo dealer), upper and lower hoses, a bunch of vacuum lines (really bad). I'll replace them all as soon as I figure out how. New air filter, put Mobil one synthetic 20/40 in the engine w/new Mann filter, changed the transmission fluid (Mobil one synthetic), New Bosch fuel filter.
Ohh and a tropical fan clutch. New from Dave.

I was thinking perhaps I put the belt on wrong but I’ve checked it twice so….

When I had my smog done they said the timing was off a bit and made an adjustment. I was actually happy because it was running hot and thought this would cure the problem. & I don’t know how to check timing. No dice.

If I turn the heater on high. She will cool way down even going up the steepest hills. I live outside of San Francisco so….

I’ve had the radiator “looked” at. This consisted of the guy feeling the back side of the radiator up and down and telling me the temp was even. He also checked the hoses. He said the radiator was good. Hey it was free. I even went to pick-a-part and purchased a really clean looking 2 row aluminum job with plastic sides. I installed it and it ran cooler when pushing it but still got too warm coming up the hill to my house. It did cool down quicker than the original radiator. I seriously cleaned the original 3 row metal job, including back flushing with the hose and spraying the fins. Put it back in and it ran the same as it had been. Too hot.

I’ve got new Volvo anti-freeze w/50% distilled water and water wetter.

I don’t really have the money for a new radiator. Not to mention it ran ok before the timing belt broke. I’m not sure if a rad. is what is needed? Did I mess up the intercooler?? Or……...... In honesty the timing belt could be off a tooth but I'd be surprised. It has just started to run bad in the last week. Harder to start, even stalled a few times just after starting.

Just got my Bentley in the mail today so I'm reading everything. I love the car so want it to run properly. However, I don't have the cash to pay a pro.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. This board is the best!
