Modified OD solenoid on transmission. Works great. 740-87

The job wasnt as bad as suspected. Heres what I did:
(jack up car on driver side, and SECURE with jack stands. I used 2,one o side and one in front)
1.Unbolted rear tranny mount and dropped tranny down in back(support with small hydraulic jack).
2.Used a small brush, and rag to loosen dirt around the od area(dont forget behind the solenoid)
3.Cleared the dirt using canned compressed air.
4.unbolted and moved front tranny link out of the way(let it hang).
5.Cut 0d wire near solenoid to facilitate removal.
6.Drained tranny oil from pan.
7.took off od bolts and removed it (used regular 12mm box end)(It came off easy)(not much of a problem with tranny lowered in rear)(even easier if you squirt a little WD40, or something before hand)
8. Using an inspection mirror, I noticed a few loose crumbs of dirt in the rear where the solenoid was. I put my fingers over the 2 od holes and used the other hand to blow the dirt away with the canned air.
(The OD seals were stuck to the tranny but were easily removed with fingers.)
9.Used diamond cutting tool and dremel to cut the grove in the solenoid(check 700/900faq: http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/TransmissionAuto.htm#OverdriveRemoval
Theres a picture there.

Cleared away all metal chips with air(of course).

replace the big outer seal only, not the smaller one. Use some silicone grease to hold seal it place for installation.

Bolt torque? Just make sure they'r tight. You dont need a whole bunch.

Dont forget tranny fluid. I used fresh fluid.

No more third gear driving. Shes as smooth as silk now.

The best part: Cost 0.

You can do what you want with the wiring etc. I just diconnected wire near linkage and let it hang.
