sunroof switch 1993 940 series question

Does anyone know if the wiring scheme color on a 93 Volvo sunroof switch is the same for a earlier model switch (1988 say) , blue, blue/yellow, red and black wires? I have a failed switch on my 93 and have a replacement for an 88. It came with a different plug end but same color wires. I cut the end off and spliced it into my car. The switch only opens the lift vent flap for the sunroof, but will not operate the sunroof to open or retract??? any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
