Anyone ever paid much attention to the factory marks on the driveshaft?
When I got mine, I marked a line on all the pieces so the index wouldn't change.
This was a year ago, unknown if it'd been out before but I don't think it had.
I pulled it again to replace the CSB, again, and noticed two marks.
One is a white mark that matches the white mark on the flange of the trans output, this is an M46. I based my earlier marks on this one so I can line it up there no problem. When I had the shaft on the bench though I was cleaning it off, it's got the same rubber undercoating on it the bottom of the car does, and I found what looks like a sloppy slap with a paintbrush and yellow paint on the long section and on the short section, and they do not quite correspond to the marks I made previously before I ever removed it.
So, either they are not alignment marks, or it's been out before and put back in a little off. Anyone know if the yellow is the actual mark? I indexed it using the yellow this time and honestly I can't tell any difference from my other marks.
It still has the bump bump on takeoff, and shimming up and down has not helped.
Lot worse when loaded, which is just great considering one of the reasons I have this car is to load stuff in. Blah..
