Electric Conversion Questions 200 1989

Hello, I've got a 240 wagon that I would like to convert to electric. From my reading it seems that the major drawbacks are weight, rear wheel drive and the automatic transmission. So here are some questions:

Should the automatic transmission be modified to accommodate the increased RPM's ideal for electric motors or would it be easier to replace it with a standard transmission?

Clearly a new suspension will be needed for the added battery weight, but where is the best placement for batteries, up front?

Also, what is the best strategy to distribute the battery weight considering the rear wheel drive?

Feel free to add any general opinions or diagrams. Thank you.
