Radio stopped with a pop 700 1987

Hi folks,

I was rockin' to my Kenwood system which I recently rewired and replaced a blown speaker on. I had it turned up enough so that I could not hear the engine noise, and the volume read -16 (zero is the highest volume).

The music stopped with a POP and all was silent. I tried the normal stuff (turn it off, turn it on, toggle volume/loud/ATT/mixer). The little screen lights and behaves like normal.

I observed a separate fuse (25A) on the back of the unit when I removed it, and found that the fuse block in the dash had a 25A fuse for the radio, and I replaced the fuse block fuse with the proper 15A fuse. Would a blown (or compromised) fuse have caused this condition - no volume, but otherwise operational?

My other theory is that the amp inside the unit failed. But that would be sad. :(

Ari
