I am familiar with the fiber vs. steel gear arguments.

Searching the archives, there was a discussion about a batch of Cloyes gears that had machining problems. I don't know the year of that thread, but will assume that that has been resolved based on the posts.

However, one comment caught my eye. I think Phil S. said the Cloyes gears are a tighter fit onto the cam and crankshaft then the fiber gears. How tight?
And how easily removable are they after being intalled? Will it destroy the steel gear if for some reason the gear must be removed?

Also, are there threads in the Cloyes crank gear to make it's removal (at some future date) easier. The stock crank gear has threaded holes that I have used in the past because it can be difficult to get a gear puller behind there.

I also saw that threads in the archives referred to the Cloyes gearset as
steel/aluminum. I'd assume that means the gears are steel but the hub is aluminum. Yes?
