Cost of changing out the main fuel pump...

All - I was out of town when my wife's 87 240 died.. she had it towed to a mechanic who we have used in the past who has proved reliable, however he today gave me a quote of 500+ to change out the diagnosed external fuel pump... I assume he's swapping the external fuel pump, relay, and fuel filter... yet it seems costly.

Seem high?
