The neutral safety switch on my wife's 94 model 940 recently malfunctioned.

I bought a new switch and this past weekend, I replaced it.

In all my years of owning and driving Volvos, I have never seen anything about the design of Volvo cars that would fit into the "Gadget" or Gizmo" category.....until now.

The shifter is equipped with the normal neutral safety switch and also has lockout to the ignition switch which is actuated by a cable from the shifter.
This prevents the keys from being removed from the switch unless the shifter is in park.

The Shift release button is also borderline..."Widgit".

Some of the (mostly plastic) parts in the shifter have broken....such as the gear indicator. This involves a small piece of thin plastic that slides in a groove in tandem with the shift handle.

This is supposed to open a small "port hole" beside the selected gear position and allow light to escape to give a indication of the gear shift position.

It's hard to explain the design, and apparently it took several engineers a good long while to come up with a design this complicated.

Anyway...I'm just blowing off steam.
There are too many "things" with this shifter that will ultimately leave my wife stranded and me travelling to make a roadside "repair" just to get the car out of park and the engine started.

I'm seriously considering doing surgery to the shifter to eliminate some of this "stuff".

Oh...As to my question.
Does anyone know where to find parts for this shifter?....other than the dealer?
Some of the small plastic "gadget" parts?

Boneyard 940's are kind of rare around here.
