Leaky oil trap repair S90-V90

I posted a while back about an oil leak..usual culprits.
ALS responded it is common for the oil cooler /PCV oil trap seal to leak.
It was indeed the upper o-ring leaking on the oil trap.
Being where it is located I opted to buy all of it. That is the trap, the o-ring, the vent hose and the clamps. All cheap and available at the usual online shops.
By no means is this an easy job. back breaking and blind working from the top
I yanked the alternator and removed the p/s pump and bracket leaving it hooked up and just pushing it aside. Also the air filter box, intake hoses, MAF, AIV and a bunch of wiring etc. To gain clean access.
2 simple 10mm bolts hold the trap in but the rear hose fitting to the block had 2 very blind T25 torx hose clamps. These were a bear. Also the upper PCV hose and another hose that had those stupid oetiker type hose clamps on them made removing a treat. Once out the obviously leaky and crumbly o-ring almost fell into the block. Word of caution on that. Mine was ripped in half and teetering on the hole in the block. Could have easily fell in.
The replacement o-ring was a much better design. Different silicone type material and better shaped. The lower hose that had the 2 hose clamps was also a much better design being an encased steel sleeve with rubber insert inside rather than a chunk of hose.
Install was fairly difficult. You cannot see anyhting and you have to be real careful you do not plunge the o-ring into the block or tear it on install. You have to just feel your way in. I mounted the o-ring on the trap rather than in the block. I felt a nice insertion pressure relief once it seated itself correctly but it took me 3-4 gentle tries before it went in nice nice. I vaselined that o-ring and hose before doing it. Tighening those blind hose clamps was equally as pleasureable as removing them.
This job sits high on my never want to do it again list but am glad i fixed my oil leak. Those hose clamps....man i am sure they could have done something easier.
So I did my timing belt at the same time. Now that is a very easy job.
