Ok, so I was cleaning the mung off the axle tube to see the ID tag, as part of my replacement of the pinion seal. I am following the faq instructions. Incidentally, I ordered an OEM seal and dust cover from the local dealer, along with a new flange nut. You don't want to know what that is costing. But I am following the faq, and it says to get the OEM one because aftermarket is not reliable.
Anyway, below is a picture of the ID tag. It says 4.10 on it. Are you seriously telling me this car has a 4.10 rear end? That would explain the high rpm's at highway speed. But it's bad for mileage. Oh well, take a look and please add your input. The car is a '91, 740 automatic.
