Long story short I'm attempting to hook up the Overdrive on my 122 (with a retrofitted M-41) using the relay/setup out of a '81-'87 240 with a M-46.
The reason for doing this vs doing it with a relay out of a volvo of the same vintage (122, 1800, etc) is because I like the idea of the OD turning it self completely off when shifted out of 4th gear.
I think I have everything hooked up correctly, but for some reason I can not get the M-46 relay to work.
I'm hoping a 240 M-46 guru can help me understand just exactly how the relay hooks up on these cars. (My '80 and '79 240s both have m-46s, but being the early style, they don't have the momentary contact relay.)
At the moment I have it hooked up as follows:
OD Solenoid to pin 87 on OD relay, OD light also hooks up to pin 87.
One end of the 4th gear switch hooks up to pin 85 on the OD relay, the other end of the 4th gear switch is grounded.
+12 volts from the fuse box (when Ignition is on) is connected to pin 15 on the OD relay.
The OD switch (momentary contact style) connects to pins 15 and 86 on the OD relay.
Is there something I'm missing here? Is this hooked up incorrectly?
Thanks as always!
