Upper balljoint fitting - 73 142 140-160 1973

Hello all,

My 73 142 project is coming along well. I presently have a slight issue with
my new upper balljoints. After about one month of driving after pressing in my
new balljoints, they managed to work themselves loose and pop up and out of the
upper contorol arms. Happened while I was driving home from work, had to limp it
home for the last mile or so.
So the question is, why did it happen? I think there may be two reasons. Before
installing my new ipd balljoints, i had the front control arms powdercoated. They
came out great, but of course there was some slight coating that got into the
balljoint holes from a poor masking job. I had to lightly sand down the holes to
remove the excess coating. Maybe this caused a smoothing or distortion of the
holes for the balljoints or maybe the powdercoating process itself warped the
mounting holes areas? Also after dissassembly, I realized that I probably over-
torqued the pivot shaft nuts when installing the new bushings on the upper arms
(and oh what a bitch that job was). Anyone got the torque specs on those? They
are tight and causing binding, maybe this was enough to force out the balljoints?
Any help or info is appreciated

- I should also note that at the same time of installing the new balljoints, I
installed lowering springs and billsteins but I did not think that just the
lowering and increase in stiffness would cause this to happen.
