Seat Heater Element Repair

I'd like to get the seat heaters working in the new-to-me 244. After I pulled the drivers seat Sunday evening for some reconstructive surgery I found that both switches have voltage and the plug at the drivers seat does also. Halfway there right?

Well, over the last 23 years the heater elements haven't faired so well. The connection at the thermostat is broken and there are several other gross and obvious breaks in the wires of the lower cushion element. I own a soldering iron, no problem. The seat back element isn't so straightforward. There is not continuity across the element and there are no obvious breaks.

Question: What's the best way to find the break in a long ~24AWG wire that doesn't appear to be broken? Is there a preferred method of repairing the elements besides soldering?

Thanks,
Will
