Can a U-joint cause bucking or hesitation? 200

My 83 245 is still having a bucking/hesitation problem but it doesn't affect the rpm or engine. Well not the one I'm describing, my car does have a hesitation when accelerating but this one really starts when my speed reaches 40mph. It feels like the rear of the car is catching on something. I was wondering if my assumption is at all correct thinking that a U-joint is failing. I have a tow hitch from a past owner and thought maybe the stress from towing would cause a u-joint to fail. I took a look at them and thought one looked a bit unusual.

Also is it just the pre 86 that have two different u-joints, one for the front and a different for the rear? I thought they where all the same on the 86 but maybe I replaced the front with the wrong one last year?

I also have a u-joint (beck and arnley) that came with the car. It only has the # 1020023 and UR5 on the box. The first number doesn't bring up a part at eeuroparts.com. Can anyone identify this u-joint. Thanks.
