Self destructing distributor rotor 120-130 1966

Hi all,

I went to start my '66 130 earlier tonight/this morning. All was well for about 90 seconds. Suddenly the car stalled. I popped the hood to see what the story was and noticed that the wire between the distributor and coil had popped off the dizzy.

I thought that was kind of strange, and reattached the wire. Went to start the car and it still wouldn't go.

Back under the hood I noticed the distributor cap seemed loose. I popped it off and the rotor was in several pieces!

I had an old rotor in the trunk (I usually save my old tune up parts just in case.)

Now the car runs but it won't hold a decent idle. The cap is still loose and doesn't seem to be able to stay secure on the distributor. (The old rotor isn't in bad shape, as that was my first thought.)

Has anyone had this happen before? Any idea what would make the rotor go to pieces? I'm worried my dizzy may be shot. The car has a b-20f in it now (although it has the b-18 distributor). It's also been converted to a breakerless ignition.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks as always.
