245 Exhaust Question 200 1986

So after helping my Son in Law and Daughter work a their new house for five weekends in a row and then 12 days of getting my power from a generator after Hurricane Ike. Finally have the time to get back to working on Inga and the back end (literally)of the repair and upgrade list. Took almost half an hour to get the not one but two cross threaded lug nuts off the drivers side rear tire tonight (thank you Discount Tire that is strike two). Got the rear end up and on the jack stands and cut all the old stuff out of there tonight.

Getting ready to install the FCP Starla exhaust system from the Cat to the tail pipe. Now I have read here on the BB that the tail pipe on a 245 goes over the rear axle. First of all is that correct and if so is that pipe different from the same pipe on a 244? I ask this because heck if I can see how the pipe that came with the system is going to go over that axle and fit onto the rear muffler. Inga has had up to now a kludge of non Volvo stuff installed under her. Looking at the Bentley, Green Book, and Hayes did not find jack on exhaust pipes. At least so far I have found nothing useful to refer in any of them.

So does the pipe from the resonator or first muffler go over the axle, and if it does is the pipe that came with the Starla system?. Want to seek the guidance of the BB before I crawl under Inga this weekend. If you have any tips on how to get those doughnuts onto the mounts at the front of the first muffler that would also be welcomed. Those look like they are going to be a real joy to get on.

Thanks in advance for your advise and,

Regards,

Paul
