My daughter came home this afternoon and said her '91 240 sedan was making a clicking sound from the passenger side rear wheel area. I drove with her around the block to check things out. At first, starting off gently, there was no sound, but when my daughter accelerated more strongly the car began making a constant tapping sound from the passenger side rear wheel area. The pitch of the sound was like a finger gently tapping a table. The speed of the tapping increases and decreases with the speed of the car and goes away as soon as the brakes are applied. I jacked up the car, spun the right rear wheel by hand, and listened for bearing noise. Didn't hear anything unusual. I then removed the wheel and did not see anything unusual. Any ideas gentlemen?
