Defective new hose? quick question 700

I just opened the box for my radiator swap (yeah, good thinking there since it sat for a month) and found that the new expansion tank hose I have looks kind of damaged.

The hose seems fine, it's where the hoses are "vulcanized?" together that it looks odd. I can see a seam between the hoses on one area and it's obvious that some of the mating material is flaked off or something. Is this a sign of a bad hose or something normal?
