Hi, all...
The self-service salvage yard near my house just got a particularly nice 92 244. The car is dark grey with a grey cloth interior, and as soon as I saw it, I was lusting after the seats for my 89 wagon. However, I ran into a few issues and I was hoping some of you Brickboarders might be able to enlighten me. First off, I am assuming that there is no way to adapt sedan rear seats to a wagon? With the extra foam at the sides, it seems like there would be no way to fold the seat? Also, I am assuming there would be no way to attach headrests to the seatbacks on a sedan seat were one to put it in a wagon. Shame, really, because this interior is mint. Which brings me to my next question. Did volvo ever make 240s without heated seats? This car has blanking plates where the seat switches are, and I couldn'd find any wiring going into the bottom of the front seats. Is there any way to swap over the heating elements from my existing seats into the newer seats? Finally, I pulled the sun visors out of the car, only to discover that they mount differently (2 screws instead of three) compared to my 89. Is there any way to swap the mounting bases between the two?
Thank you for any advice, as I'd like to save those seats from the crusher if I can use them. ALso, one cool thing about this donor car. It appears that the first owner picked it up in Europe and had it shipped home. There were stickers inside noting that it was a " Volvo custom order" car, as well as a sticker with phone numbers for Euro roadside assistance programs in various countries from the "Volvo Tourist and Diplomat Program" (seriously, that's what the sticker said.)My buddy was joking around that we were pulling parts from some diplomat's car. I grabbed the sticker and stuck it on my wagon, of course!
Thanks for any help!
Adam
