Can anybody help?

I have an 89 240 (120000km) that runs rich(black smoke), has a rough idle and when cold, it starts fine but barely idles until warm. However, at normal operating temperature the idle smooths out, but still stumbles. There are no fault codes and when driven (when warm) it seems to have normal power.
