e-Brake cable options for 1800E axle in a 122 Wagon 120-130 1967

I finally got the D-jet system in my 122S Wagon sorted out and running. It turns out that the harness wire to the #2 temp sensor was broken - screwing up the fuel mixture. This was immediately followed by the #2 fuse blowing - which prevented the injectors from firing. Both issues are now solved. The car starts and moves.

This raises my next big issue (again) Namely STOPPING car. My 1800E booster setup is not ready to go (ask me how I found out). I think my actuator rod is too short/too long. I'll get that sorted out soon. The related issue is that (unlike a sedan) I can't get the 1800E E-brake to fit my wagon.

It is not an issue of the length to the e-brake handle, that's no trouble to figure out. I saved all the e-brake mounting brackets from the donor 1800 and will screw/weld them in place when I have the cable routing worked out.

The issue is that e-brake tubes are a bit too short to meet the rear crossmember for mounting. I thought I could solve the problem by mounting the tubes farther outboard (towards the edges, but I quickly discovered that the brake cable itself was not long enough for me to "widen" the setup.

When this last came up, someone (maybe Shannon) pointed me to a custom e-brake parts company. I could still go that route, but I'd rather use something off-the-shelf that would accommodate the length I need. Maybe just a longer cable would solve the problem, but I'm not sure. I don't think anyone has ever completely upgraded a wagon with 1800E parts before (and told anyone).

My issue with a custom cable is that I's like to get an off-the-shelf replacement cable when the need arises.

I was thinking an e-brake from a 145 or a 245 might work. I think they are larger than an 1800 and have disc-brake rears. I don't have any 1/245s nearby to check and I don't know if the mounting clips or length are any different.

Can any enlighten me?

Any ideas?
