A/C hose fitting question 200

I picked up a newish a/c hose that has a fitting in the middle of the hose that goes from the evap. to the receiver/dryer.Is this where you can fill with freon? It has a valve core in it and before I install the hose should I replace this valve core and is it a special valve core? I will be changing over to r134 and changing all the O rings and receiver drier when doing the change over.Thanks for any help. Charlie
