I understand that IPD sells, or used to sell a stainless steel ring to reinforce the connection between the distributor shaft and the oil pump shaft. I bought one and it certainly looks like it will do the job. My question is this: I broke the connection when the oil pump broke a tooth and jammed the oil pump into a "locked" configuration. The parts separated when the "dog ears" on the oil pump broke off. If this reinforcement ring stops that from happening what happens to the workings when the ring prevents the separation? A whole lot of energy is going to be applied in an instant, what is going to give??
