For my 1990 n/a automatic txn 240DL wagon...
On my current 240 projects drawing board is the installation of several 52mm accessory gauges -- all of them Volvo OEM 240 gauges, but I was thinking about including one aftermarket gauge, a transmission oil temp gauge.
I'm a newbie who knows nothing about transmissions. If my goal is to keep this wagon running like new for at least two if not three more decades, is there any merit to installing a txn oil temp gauge?
...Would a higher than normal reading give me an early warning in case a txn problem is developing?
...or are these gauges only useful when you're hauling a heavy trailer???
The VDO gauge and sender I'm talking about:
