With the weather going warm/cold I've been having a hard time spending much ime under the car lately.
When it's been warm, I've had the driver's windows down and can hear a weird noise reflecting off of retaining walls and passing cars. It seems to be coming from my undercarriage or the rear of the car.
The noise is a flat flimsy sounding tack-spak sort of noise. Imagine if you were dropping small pebbles onto an aluminum pie plate and you have an idea of the sound. It only get the sound while in motion and while braking. The noise persists when I'm in motion in or out of gear (rolling in neutral). It does not seem to speed up or slow down with the engine rpms.
I've been under the car and into the drums and few times adjusting the shoes and replacing my shocks last weekend.
The only idea I've had about the source of the sound is that the limiting strap on the driver's side rear snapped. I'll pull the damaged strap this weekend and see if the sounds stops, but I have my doubts. The strap has been broken for months while I only noticed the sound a couple weeks ago.
Any ideas on this?
