The car is a 1988 740 Turbo wagon, ABS was working fine, then one day started the car and the ABS light stayed lit immediately at startup. For several starts after that, it would repeat - light was illuminated immediately at startup and stayed lit. Read the FAQ, thought it was an electrical issue, checked the fuse in the fusebox and on the relay under the dash and they're ok. Then after a restart the light did NOT come on until the car started rolling forward. Now sometimes it's immediately on, sometimes it turns on as soon as the car goes forward, and one time the light shut off at a stoplight but then relit once the car went forward again. The Haynes manual has several electrical checks that require the cover to be removed from the control unit on the left kickpanel - I don't see how it will be possible to access it up there. Anyone have some tips for accessing the control unit? I still think it's probably an electrical issue rather than a sensor since most of the time the light stays on immediately when the car is started, anyone experience these symptoms on their 740?
