235k on the car. This just started.... The car is smooth and quiet above lets say 30 mph. But as I am am decelerating there is this terrible groaning / mashing coming from the driveline. Pretty sure from teh rear end. At first I thought is sounded like the brakes becasue it only showed up while decelerating with the brakes applied. But I can get it to make the noise while just driving at 20 mph. The sound lessens or goes away when I put it in neutral. Last night I jacked up the rear and inspeced the brakes. I replaced pads and rotors maybe 10k ago and everything still looks good and tight.

I think I have ruled out the rear brakes. while the car was up I checked the differential fluid. The fluid level was right up to the bottom of the fill plug. It could maybe use a change but it WAS full of fluid.

My center support bearing has been singing to me for several months. I finally ordered the bearing kit and will be changing this out soon. Could the bearing be far enough gone to be making the groaning noise under 25 mph??

What else could it be / can I check. While I have the driveshaft out I will check the U joints. Rear wheel bearings?? General failure of the rear end??
