My winter project, a pictoral 200

Too lazy to type up more words. I did that, then apparently the forum burped and it's gone.

Background. 245 classic with 940T motor transplant. Mustang T5 trans, 16T turbo with 3" exhaust, NPR intercooler, Megasquirt, browntops, 531 head, IPD cam, etc. Pushed it a little too hard at the drag strip on some iffy gas (25 psi and pinging, not good in combination). While it did crack off a couple of crisp runs (13.8@99, 13.9@100) it apparently bent some of the rods, and the #2 rod let go in dramatic fashion a few days later.
Pics from last year's trip to the strip:

Driving to work, stepped on the gas in 3rd gear, at *only* 15 psi (heh) KAPOW clatter clatter clatter. Yep, it's toast. Got it towed home, and plucked the motor. Oh my, the block has a new ventilation path!

The carnage was multiplied when the #2 rod broke the intermediate shaft. Pieces of that then fell back and into the clutches of the #3 rod, which used them to batter new holes in the block.

The weakest link, #2 rod:

#1 rod, showing some bending:

#3 was bent worse, and in both planes, but it at least had the excuse of playing bumper cars with pieces of the intermediate shaft.

'94 B230FT from a junkyard. Stripped it down, and found that with 240K miles on it, it still has crosshatching on the cylinder walls. Probably could have just put it in as is, although the bearings were looking a bit brassy:

But after blowing up a stock bottom end, I want something a little stronger this time around. Some Pauter rods, and forged Wiseco pistons:

And rather than merely keeping things simple, I've decided to stick this on top of the new bottom end once it gets back from the machine shop:

Next time I take it to the drag strip it should be stronger *and* faster.
