Shifter replacement S90-V90 1998

Car is 1998 V70. Release button on shifter is broken and sticking.
I'm trying to see if I need just the top part of the shifter,
or the entire shifter assy, including the base.
I'm curious if it's possible to pull of just the top part of the
shifter. If yes, how?
