Non-responsive steering wheel 200

my 1991 240SE station wagon is getting slow in responding to turning of the steering wheel. It feels like a lot of the initial turn has no effect. The car would go straight with the steering square, or 5 degrees to the left.

The care has over 200k miles and the suspension and steering are still original equipment. I wonder if the slow response to steering indicates a bad steering rack? or other parts?
