High-pitched engine noise/turbo 900 1993

My 93 turbo wagon with about 300k on the clock has recently developed a high-pitched whine when warm under acceleration. No whine at idle. The pitch of the sound matches the RPM (higher RPM, higher pitch) and the sound is coming from the turbo side of the engine (its a mitsubishi turbo). The car performs fine, and the turbo boost appears normal. Any thoughts from listmembers on cause or cure.
