Just replaced accumulator, wont idle, hard start - B21Ft 200 1983

I just replaced a leaky fuel accumulator with a brand new bosch part and now it's hard to start and doesn't want to idle.

On my first try starting it after replacement, it took some starts to prime the system and then it was working well for about a minute. It would idle fine and revved up clean. Then after revving it some it started hesitating from idle RPM. Shortly after that letting off the throttle caused it to stall out. Since then I can't get it to idle at all. Starting is hard as well. Its also hesitating some while revved up in the 2-3k RPM range. As soon as I let off the throttle, (even easing off of it to idle speed) causes it to die.

I've jumpered the main pump and it makes a buzzing/(almost duck quack like) wheezing sound (but not extremely loud). I've also cracked the line open at the filter to bleed air out of the system (I read an older post about bleeding air out of the fuel line). I've also inspected the parts I touched visually and do not see any fuel leaking.

Also, while waiting for my part to arrive, I pulled the sender unit to see check the tank for gas and tank condition. Everything looked clean from what I could see. My thinking is that maybe I knocked the sock off the pre-pump while I was looking around? Thus causing a clog in the pre-pump and making the main pump do double duty? I don't seem to be getting any buzzing from the tank but I was only able to check that when it was idling initially.

Seems like one of the pumps isn't doing its job. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
