There is a 1991 740 130K miles I'm considering to purchase. He is selling it for $750 b/c it seems to be having a problem that he said is best described as "vapor lock" (though impossible I believe on a FI car) and doesn't seem to have a problem in the winter he said, though he thought could just be heading on its way out. [ I was told 2 different volvo mechanics have worked on it ]
I thought might be a good parts car for my 1990 740 regina 291k miles, but I didn't know if many of the parts might be at the end of their age, such as the fuel pump perhaps? - seems like lot people replace the regina between 130-160K miles. So, I'm still not sure if it would be worth the money or not.
Would the cost be worth the parts? FPR/Chairs/MAP/ etc... if not easily fixed.
Even though it seems the pumps only last 130-160k miles, do the sending units last much longer? (regina)
Any tips or advice for or against would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul
