Re-torquing cylinder head bolts 900 1991

Can the head bolts on 1991 B230 (in a 940) be retorqued? I have a coolant leak which seems to be coming from both sides of the engine around the front cylinder.

About 18 months ago I replaced the headgasket. All was fine until a couple of weeks ago when I noticed coolant under the car. My first thought was the thermostat housing (which has an annoying tendency to leak at regular intervals). This morning I noticed the area around the front cylinder is wet on both sides of the engine.

It is my understanding the Volvo's don't need the head bolts retorqued after the intial tightening. But I'd like to know if I could safely retorque the head bolts without causing other problems.

Thanks for any input.
Brad
