What years of 240 have OBD-1 and the nice built-in box under the hood for checking codes?

I know the 740's had the OBD code box as early as 1989 for the NA's and 1991 or so for the Turbos, but have never payed attention to that point with the handful of 240's where I've poked under the hood.

My father is shortly going to be in the market for a 240/740/940 and I'm trying to guide him towards a car with modern engine management. He has been driving a 1981 LeBaron coupe which has endless carburetor problems and is practically decomposing before his eyes (ah, malaise-era Detroit), and I have nearly talked him into shopping around for a brick.
